Big Al  Big Al My father passed away from ALS in august 05 after a 2 year battle with this living on a respirator. my father passed away from ALS in august 05 after a 2 year battle with this living on a respirator. The odd thing is that when i was a young boy i idolized Lou Gehrig, I come to realize that my father and Lou were very similar. Both very courageous, hard workers and loving men. My dad worked 2 full time jobs so my sister and myself could go to college and also be able to go on vacations with my mother. As he was ill with this terrible disease - he would never show you how much pain he was in (i quess he wanted to be strong for the rest of us) he would smile and mouth I love you. That is what makes him a real hero to me. |
