On Saturday, September 25, 2021, I will once again be walking in the virtual Walk to Defeat ALS in NYC, which also happens to fall on the fourth anniversary of my dear mother, Marilynn's passing from this terrible disease. I will be walking in my mother's memory in my neighborhood in Brooklyn Heights. If you would like to join me in a socially distanced walk in Brooklyn, please let me know. Otherwise, you can walk with us wherever you are, or donate to my team to help raise funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Thank you for helping me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal!
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. My mother lived with this terrible disease for almost five years. It robbed her first of her voice and to swallow, and eventually left her trapped in a body she could not move. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, I pray that we can make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
