Wrapping in Red and White

to join in on the fight…

against ALS

Local Long Island business owner
and 2nd place national wrap contest winner
runs gift wrapping fundraiser for ALS

Melinda Cantor, owner of Only You Gifts, Islip and 2nd place winner in the 17th Annual Scotch Brand Most Gifted Wrapper Contest will run an all day wrapping event at her store at 549 Main Street, Islip 631-277-2333 on Sunday, December 21, 2014.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association Greater NY Chapter.

She will use the same speed and creativity needed to get her as far as she did in the Scoth Brand contest to wrap as many gifts as possible for the full day.  There will be suggested donations for small items as low as $5 and will add additional embellishments to those with the larger donations and larger packages.  Packages will be wrapped in colors of red, silver and white which are in line with the ALS Associations colors as well as the holiday.

Checks to ALS Association or cash will be happily accepted.  If a credit card is the only form of payment we will have the ALS site available for donation processing.

This cause is very dear to Melinda since her mom, Josephine Pace, lost her battle with ALS this on September 12, 2013.

The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter:

80 cents of every dollar goes towards the mission of The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter.

The ALS Association's mission is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting-edge research and to empower people with Lou Gehrig's disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

As one of The ALS Association's leading chapters, the Greater New York Chapter plays a major role in promoting the mission of The ALS Association by:

•    Providing a quality services to patients and families living with ALS throughout the greater New York area, including the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, and Rockland counties, the Hudson Valley, and northern and central New Jersey.
•    Funding aggressive, cutting-edge research to find a cure that utilizes the newest techniques and fosters collaborative initiatives among government agencies, the private sector and scientists.
•    Supporting The ALS Association's national advocacy program to expand government support of research and elicit programs to make treatments and care accessible and affordable for all ALS patients.

Heightening awareness of ALS in order to stimulate volunteerism, scientific and healthcare community activism, and public support that is essential to the fight against ALS.

Why We Need Your Help

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or register to join me today.
